I posted photos
of my gear in various galleries, written articles and step by steps, even
did a few reviews here and there. Never, did I once, receive as many emails
and private messages as I did when I uploaded "A Night In The War Room".
Just a bunch of snapshots of me and some friends getting drunk while playing
with our favorite toys and it was like I showed the community of gear and
airsoft enthusiast the one thing they wished for - the one thing everyone
enjoys; time to just goof off and mess around.
My intention of posting these
pics was to share the pics but also to share the evening as well. I wanted
to invite you... to have you join us and I suppose this was perhaps a silly
idea at the time but surprisingly it became something that more than just
a few people really enjoyed. I decided to keep the Nikon handy for nights
like these. It might not be every time, but it would certainly be standard
procedure to shoot pics to share once again.
So - here we go again. Another
Night In The War Room. A trip back over to Ron's to fondle gear, trade stuff,
and get drunk.

It
all started out with Ron showing me his newest toy - a chopped down M4. Another
M4 for Ron? No, can't imagine it! Seen here are a few random shots of guns along
with the M5 pouch from maxpedition. I love their stuff... really rugged and
very useful. Got a few AK parts from various sources. You can see the sanded
buttstock which is destined for my AKM conversion. Also - magazines and books
get a good finger-fucking. Oh... dead man says 'hello!"

I couldn't believe
she let me shoot the pics; Lynn (Ron's wife) stopped in to say hello and we
quickly nabbed the opportunity to dress her up and pose her for the camera.
She wore my BGS jacket and posed with Ron's AK then donned some US woodland
while holding a few M4 variants. (I did some photoshop work on one of them
to make it look as though she's really plinking off a real pistol. Pretty
cool, huh?) In between I shot some of the very nice strider knives available
at Ron's store, Long Island Airsoft. You can also see a pretty cool USP springer.
My knee/shin pads and elbow/forearm pads were made by Special Materials, Russia
and are no longer made. I believe they are titanium.

There's nothing
like old nasty canvas gear and this RD-54 ruck was a gift from Napalm (Red-Alliance
KGB) and I absolutely love it! It's missing the belt and pouches but I'm determined
to add them soon. The RD-54 has been the standard issue ruck for the Russian
paratroopers for quite some time. The book "Afghanistan; A Russian Soldiers
Story" is a terrific read and was written by a VDV paratrooper who served
in Afghanistan. A few pics of this same ruck can be seen in this volume. Photo
on the right is a nice comparison to one of Ron's more modern packs.
We
love Napalm!
Got me a new maxpedition
dump pouch - LARGE size! I like messing around with Rons pistols. Here are
2 springers... not bad. Pretty convincing till you pick them up. Also got
a new blackhawk low-pro watchcap. Mmmm... soft! The HK is also a springer.
It's also MINE too! Ron's painted AK looks great - starting to get some scratches.
Sweet! At right, ron oggles over my super-nice VSR rainsuit from Dusty Miller
(Russia). Even US gear collectors drool over this piece of kit! Thanks Dusty!
As usual, there
was shit everywhere. We started messing around with belt order stuff and tried
on some new cold weather mid layers - SOF-PCU- Special Operation Forces- Protective
Combat Uniform. I tried on the Insport PCU Level 3 half zip pullover. Superb!
Ron wore the Sekri PCU Level 2 Gridded Fleece Long sleeve shirt. (That's me
on the right with the LR - very nice carbine!)
You'd think I'd
stay and help clean up!
It never gets
old. Sitting around with nothing to do but drink and play with toys.Boonie
is from our buddie "Steve" - another gift. Nice having to time to
enjoy it!
Don't
know why I took this pic. Just makes me laugh.
Had a great time.
Hope I remembered to leave money for the pizza. Thanks Ron!
