Ron's Special Forces Impression: Version 1

This is my best friend Ron (from Long Island Airsoft). Ron was kind enough to let me photograph him during a day of airsoft in the spring of 2004. Rons commitment to the impression and attention to detail seem to make him stand out on the field and while he always says "I could've done it better", everyone who enjoys military impressions really understands the look he is trying to achieve.

These days, Ron doesn't wear or use anything that isn't directly inspired from real soldiers in the field and while he incorporates civilian clothes at times, it's usually because his research directs him to do so.

These photos will soon be accompanied by close-ups of his gear and weapons used for this days shoot. So far his only comments for this page are that he was inspired by SF operators in Afghanistan and a comment he read stating that those operators looked like "gunslingers from the Old West."

At left - a dramatic angle and austere pose; Ron's impression is VERY convincing!
The approach. I liked the contrast in colors between the foreground grasses, evergreen trees, blue sky, and of course, the uniform. It was a beautiful day and the light was perfect.
Reloading and Recon poses. Should have gotten some close-ups here but they'll have to come later. The full size pics show fairly good details. Ron's gloves are flight gloves given to him by a real operator - a mutual freind of ours who's ID is classified. The Shemagh is from Iraq from the same operator.

Here's the list of Ron's goods -

Danner Acadia's
Issue 3 color Desert BDU's
Black Pull Over [ not issue]
Black Cap [ not issue]
Shemag [ from Iraq]
Flight gloves [ XXXXX Force Recon]
Blackhawk commando chest rig
Issue web belt
Blackhawk OD drop leg
Issue Pistol mag pouch
Issue Canteen
M4A1
Aimpoint
Cut Carry Handle for rear back up sight
PEQ

I'm pretty sure that the sport glasses are ESS and are ANSI rated. Ron also failed to mention what kind of pistol he is wielding here. Guess I'll have to update this page with that info in the near future.

For me, the black pullover is sweet as is the non-issue cap. Nice touch! The facial hair is too neat but implies the look of the A-stan Special Forces operating at the time these pics were taken.

The commando chest rig is one of the nicest of this style. Great piece of gear.

Again, nice contrast shots. This is what airsoft is all about; not just the actual scenario, but seeing and appreciating the cool loadouts. Good shot of the M4A1 on the right. This is only 1 of many M4 variants Ron owns.

Nobody loves pistols more than this nut! He's got a wonderful collection of 1911's and adores each one of them. Yes, airsoft IS addictive!

This photo is very much like the one used at the top of this page only here, there is tremendous sun glare allowed for extreme drama.

I'll add some detail photos of Ron's goods from this shoot to this page and perhaps Ron can detail his impression concepts for us a bit more.

Expect to see more pages of this collector in the near future. Ron can be contacted at his store; Long Island Airsoft - sales@islandairsoft.net

Hope you enjoyed these photos.
