I felt it was a good term to define what a collector is trying to visually depict with a set of clothing and gear. An impression doesn't have to be an exact representation of any particular type of soldier - it can simply give one an "impression" of what that soldier might look like.

Some impressions are very generic like, "Former Eastern Bloc Mercenary" and some might be completely fictional like some of the characters found in todays video games. Some impressions are dead-on exact - the attitude of the collector here is more like that of the re-enactor; everything MUST be exact in every way. This approach is often quite impossible given both cost an availabilty of the items needed to obtain that perfect look. Most collectors will use as much real gear as possible when putting together even the most basic impression.
